While the process of testing mobile apps isn’t always straightforward, we have outlined the fundamental steps of the process that will help to ensure that a high-quality product is produced and a solid testing strategy is set in place.

We’ve noticed that QA specialists are often brought into the project later than desired. If the software testing process starts only after the first build of the application is ready, there is the potential for errors to have occurred during the technical requirements and specifications stage. Fixing mistakes afterward is always more complicated, which is why it’s important to implement the following initial steps as part of your testing strategy to save time and money.

  1. Device models and OS versions

Once you’ve identified your project idea, business logic, and target users, you should decide which mobile devices and OS versions to make your mobile app compatible with. These same devices should be the ones you test on.

To figure out the best mobile devices for your app, consider the following questions: what devices are most popular in the location you plan to launch your app in? Are there any risks that can arise during the process of publishing applications on the App Store and Google Play? How will a potential user load increase on the app be managed? What measures can be taken to test the load? How quickly should the application load and how quickly can users navigate the app menu and its functions? What test documentation is necessary for the project?

Types and forms of testing

The selection of testing types should be based on project requirements, budget, release date, and the team’s capabilities. Typically, a combination of testing forms and types is the most successful. Automated tests can provide more accurate results and can be used again, but developing them can require a lot of time. Manual testing of an application can be done without much preparation (like hallway testing). Test farms enable running tests at the same time and remotely on numerous devices. Choosing the proper combination of manual and automated testing forms and types is essential for optimizing the testing budget and ensuring a high-quality mobile app.

Testing documentation

The initial document to be produced is the test plan. This plan outlines the forms, types and scope of testing that will be undertaken. As a result of this, checklists will be produced that outline the acceptance criteria which will be used to assess the performance of the application. Additionally, test cases will be created to ensure that all the functionality is tested. These test cases will be divided into sets and run in different scenarios. Testing

My name is William, I am 30 years old. I started my way in programming with a small company, where I almost did not do real development, but thanks to the training I grew in the frontend, studied the backend and became a real full-stack programmer At the moment I work remotely.

I got interested in programming in high school, so I went to university, majoring in computer science and management.

After graduation, I found a job in my specialty – in a small company. I was a web-programmer and was mainly engaged in filling the site with content in a team with a content manager, a backend programmer and a frontend programmer. Occasionally I was given tasks to do layout or pull templates on WordPress. There was some work with JavaScript, mostly with JQuery. But I wanted to do full-fledged web development even then.

As time passed, I began to take on more complicated tasks and realized that I lacked the knowledge to complete them. After some more time Vue, Nuxt and React were among technologies I used.

Within three months of learning frontend I had significantly changed my approach to development and was able to undertake not just complex tasks, but the full implementation of the frontend part of the entire project. As a result I managed to get away from filling sites and move to full-fledged frontend development.

This profession, even though I did not go through it to the end, helped me a lot to understand how to program properly in the first place. In this blog I want to share my experience and knowledge with you.
